For the first time, working and aspiring professional photographers are about to get their fair share of great educational programs as Skip's Photo Network launches the Akron Photo Series. This is a full series of monthly events, bringing some of the finest photographic educators to the Midwest.
"When I moved back to Ohio a year ago it hit me that all the major guest speakers always went to New York or Chicago," said Akron Photo Series creator Skip Cohen. "Very few ever stopped in the Akron/Cleveland area. Ohio is a state rich with outstanding professional photographers and so accessible from Detroit and Pittsburgh, but everyone always traveled to the two bigger cities. It's time we brought this talent to Ohio!"
Beginning in October of 2010 with an outstanding program by Clay Blackmore; Akron, Ohio will become the new hub for hands-on training and education for photographers of all kinds. The Akron Photo Series will host some of the world's most sought after and respected photographers from all over the world including Tony Corbell, Doug Gordon, Bambi Cantrell, Jasmine Star, Jerry Ghionis, Eddie Tapp, Judy Host, Julieanne Kost and much, much more.
"We're also going to be helping Akron Children's Hospital by donating 10% of every ticket purchased to the hospital! Our hope it to raise more in the future as more people become aware of the event," commented Skip Cohen.
Ohio is long overdue for workshops like this. With so many outstanding photographers there's no reason why you'd need to travel out of the state for great educational programs!
